Over 90% of all hydraulic system failures are caused by contaminants in the fluid. Even when no immediate failures occur, high contamination levels can sharply decrease operating efficiency. High contaminant levels accelerate component wear and decrease service life. Worn components, in turn, contribute to inefficient system operation, seizure of parts, higher fluid temperatures, leakage, and loss of control.
